Motivation is the engine that drives you to reach your goal (resolution). When it’s strong you wake up excited about working toward your goal. You do all the practical steps that are needed that day. If any excuses and blocks come up you easily brush them aside. With it you can stay on track to your goal which means you reach your goal fast & easier. You get there as soon as possible. When it’s weak you struggle however you can still reach your goal the hard way.

PEP TALK

Need some motivation? Give yourself a PEP talk and get charged up. A PEP talk is made up of positive suggestions, statements and your goal. It’s good to have 3-5 for each talk and say one or all for your PEP Talk as many times as you want. Make sure they are positive, present tense and personal. Or you can make your own on the spot like a coach would. Repeat them most anytime.

EXAMPLE WEIGHT LOSS

  • I can lose weight
  • I love losing weight
  • By eating less I lose weight faster
  • I weigh 145 pounds

EXAMPLE SCHOOL

  • I study hard and smart
  • My mind absorbs the material
  • On the exam answers flow into my awareness
  • I get an ‘A’ on my Math exam

EXAMPLE GYM WORKOUT 

While walking into gym

  • I feel energy flowing thru my body
  • I am strong
  • I love working out
  • I complete my whole workout
  • Say whatever your goal is.

EXAMPLE QUIT SMOKING

  • I can quit smoking
  • My lungs clear up
  • My body smells clean again
  • I love being a nonsmoker

EXERCISE

Write down a few PEP talks for your goal. Use them anytime just be in a safe place. Takes only a few seconds. You can also make them up on the spot like a coach would. Continue listening to the audio tracks and reading your Goalsheet.

VISUALIZATIONS

You need to tell your Inner Mind (subconscious) what you want to happen. Visualizations do this and keep you motivated. Today we will discuss two types: Vision and Retreat. We say visualizations but we want to use as many senses as possible.

VISION

A Vision is a mental video of what we want to happen in the future, usually a goal or a resolution. If you are a swimmer it could be winning a gold medal in the Olympics. Or it could be a vision of getting your Math exam back with an ‘A’ on it.

TO CREATE – Start daydreaming about your goal. Now let the colors and shapes get sharper. Perhaps feel the gold medal in your hand or feel the rush as you stand on the podium. Hear the crowd roar. Use as many senses as possible. 

NEXT see a white line from the present time you to the future you achieving this goal. Now see yourself going down this line to get there. You are connected to the future you, reaching your goal. Now add this up and create a mental video of your Vision. It would help to write your vision down. You can use it whenever you want as many times as you want.

TO USE IT

  • Say Peace self hypnosis or just do it without the self hypnosis
  • My shoulders, arms and hands are at peace
  • My chest and stomach are at peace
  • My back is at peace. I am at peace
  • Play your video in your mind

Say: Wake up to a good day 5.4.3.2.1

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SELF HYPNOSIS 

You can keep your eyes open or closed. Peace is usually closed, strong open, and ‘relax relax’ can be either. First read the self hypnosis script to get an idea of what it is. Then read these lines one by one and follow what is says until you get the script in your head and then let them unfold in your mind. Deep is not needed. More details in Workbooks on this blog.

RETREAT

This is an escape from daily life for R&R. Perhaps it’s a hike along Mt Tam or sunning on a sandy beach in Maui. First decide on your place. Develop the colors and shapes. Hear the sounds. Touch and feel. Add your activity: skiing, snoozing, sex, snorkeling. Make a mental video. This is great for a break. You can just daydream about it and use peace self hypnosis.

  • Say Peace self hypnosis
  • My shoulders, arms and hands are ‘at peace’ or ‘relaxing’ or ‘heavy’
  • My chest and stomach are at peace
  • My back is at peace. I am at peace
  • Go on your retreat

Say: Wake up to a good day 5.4.3.2.1.
