REMOVING DOUBTS

Quitting smoking is tough. At this point you may think you can’t quit. You can’t do it. Millions have quit and you can quit. Start believing that you can. Say to yourself: “I can quit smoking” many times during your day. The audio tracks will help you. Daydream about quitting smoking and the day you actually quit.

Starting a new project can raise so many doubts. If you want to lose 50 pounds it could take 6 months to a year. That’s a long time. How can I last that long? Most smokers have tried to quit many times and didn’t make it. How can I quit this time? Trying to get an ‘A’ on your next Math exam when my last exam was a ‘C’ grade can seem hopeless. So what can we do? We can go from ‘doubts’ to ‘I do it’ with Self Hypnosis. I hope this post will help you. 

TOOL – AUDIO TRACKS 

They are my favorite way to remove doubts. You listen and they take you into self hypnosis to get motivated, to help remove temptations & doubts, and to gain insight. I have 2 types: ‘relax’ and ‘outloud’. The ‘outloud’ keeps you in normal consciousness and can be listened to while sitting down, or cooking, cleaning, walking, anytime anywhere or you can listen like it was music in the background. The ‘relax’ track takes you deeper. You need to sit or lie down in a quiet area or use headphones. All are short 2-10 minutes so they will give you a quick burst of motivation. 

TOOL – I CAN

Start telling yourself ‘I can’ for your goal or change. ‘I can quit smoking’. Out loud or to yourself. Do this during a work break, while walking from your car, before studying, anytime anywhere. When I ask you to say ‘I can reach my goal’ put in your own goal. For example: I can lose weight or I can quit smoking, I can get an ‘A’ whatever your goal is. 

TOOL – DAYDREAM 

Just daydream about reaching your goal. Imagine it happening. For example quit smoking – See yourself throwing away your pack of cigs and vowing to never smoke again.Say ‘I am a ‘nonsmoker’. See feel the benefits. Whatever you want daydream about it anytime anywhere. 

Do this as often as you can. It takes only a few seconds. Do this while taking a work break, waiting in line, walking into the gym, anytime anywhere. Your Inner Mind needs to be told what you want. The Conscious Mind is the driver in a car with the Inner Mind the car. You need to steer, to step on the gas pedal and step on the brakes when needed. You can reach your goals. 

TOOL – PAST FAILURES 

If you are having doubts floating thru your mind they could be from past failures. You may have tried to quit smoking. Each time you failed you felt crushed and hopeless. Or you may have quit but started again.  

Look at your history regarding smoking and other areas of your life. Bring up one past failure in any area, doesn’t have to be smoking. Ask and reflect on these two questions. What was going on? What did I learn? You can also use Peace self hypnosis. Self hypnosis  takes some time to learn but you don’t have to go deep. Just say the words and go with them 

  • Sit or lie down
  • Use Peace self hypnosis. Say
  • My shoulders, arms and hands are ‘at peace’ or ‘relaxing’ or ‘strong’ 
  • My chest and stomach are at peace
  • My back is at peace. I am at peace
  • Bring into your awareness your goal
  • TOOL – Say: I can quit smoking and become a nonsmoker
  • Look at a past failure
  • Ask: What was going on?  (wait a few moments for answers)
  • What did I learn?
  • Let a good memory come up (any one)
  • Say: Wake up to a good day 5.4.3.2.1.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SELF HYPNOSIS 

You can keep your eyes open or closed. Peace is usually closed, strong open, and ‘relax relax’ can be either. First read the self hypnosis script to get an idea of what it is. Then read these lines one by one and follow what is says until you get the script in your head and then let them unfold in your mind. Deep is not needed. 

For Peace or Strong self hypnosis you have more than one choice of words to use i.e. for strong you can use strong or energized either one is good just use the same one thru the whole self hypnosis.

TOOL – PAST SUCCESS 

While your failures can be discouraging, your successes can be super motivating. Look over your life for your accomplishments. Bring into your mind a success of any kind that you had. Look at the difficulties you had to overcome. See feel yourself having these feelings of success. You can use Strong or Peace self hypnosis. 

  • My shoulders, arms and hands are ‘strong’ or ‘energized’
  • My chest and stomach are strong
  • My back is strong. My legs are strong. I am strong
  • TOOL – Now bring up a past success
  • Look at what you had to overcome
  • Let feelings of success come up
  • You did this and now you can quit smoking
  • See feel yourself becoming a nonsmoker
  • Say Get ready for a wonderful day 5.4.3.2.1.

COSTS AND BENEFITS OF QUITTING

BAD HABITS

Many people quit bad habits when the cost of the habit is too much and they can no longer stand it. For example drinking, smoking, biting fingernails. In these cases it is best to strongly emphasize the costs especially for smoking because the costs of smoking are so high and dangerous.

COSTS OF SMOKING 

The costs of smoking are so numerous that the list will be too long. Make a list of your own personal costs of smoking: health, social, smell, go into detail. Take time to see feel the effect they have on your life. 

I AM SCARED

One day I was having a lot of trouble breathing and had pain in my chest. I went to the ER and he gave me something and told me to see my regular doctor tomorrow. I went and he told me I had early stage emphysema. I was only in my late 30’s so I didn’t really believe him but thought he said that to scare me into quitting. He did. I was so scared and in a panic. There was a mental shift and inside I quit. I then went to a Hypnotist and quit. Garry

Many people quit smoking when they are scared of having some health problem like lung cancer or emphysema. Many times a doctor will tell a smoker that if they don’t quit they will get some type of serious health problem. This can be scary. 

What are you scared of? Name them.

I WANT TO KEEP SMOKING

Many people just like to smoke. It tastes good like a cigarette should. They like to smoke after eating, when completing some project or with other smokers. Begin to realize that the consequences of smoking are too high to continue and that it is time to quit. 

BENEFITS OF QUITTING

Wow! When you quit a whole new life starts for you. You will have more energy, health improves dramatically, smell better, lungs will improves so much, …., and the struggle to quit will be over. Make a list of your benefits.

SMOKING AWARENESS

The day you quit smoking will be one of the best days of your life. Today we will look at the actual smoking process. Most people when they smoke don’t pay much attention to the whole smoking process. They just smoke. We want to increase our awareness when we smoke. We want to see feel the whole smoking process. Why? So we can see and feel what we are really doing to our body.

Before you smoke try this. When you take the cig out of the pack take a close look at the cig, see the white paper and the tobacco inside, place it in your mouth and light it, feel the smoke going down your throat, your lungs filling up with this smoke, and breathing out. Afterward smell your body and the air around you. Or you can use the self hypnosis exercise below.

SMOKING AWARENESS WITH SELF HYPNOSIS

Try this.

  • Say Strong self hypnosis.
  • My shoulders, arms and hands are strong, or ‘energized’
  • My chest and stomach are strong
  • My back and legs are strong
  • I am strong
  • TOOL – Then take the cigarette from the pack
  • Look closely at it.
  • Put it in your mouth. Feel it between your lips
  • Light it, inhale. OR don’t smoke and just pretend
  • Feel the hot gases flowing down your throat and into your lungs
  • Imagine the poisons attaching to your lungs
  • Afterwards smell the air and your body
  • Say to yourself: I can quit smoking

SELF HYPNOSIS INSTRUCTIONS

SMOKING SUCKS

Deep inside your mind there is a little part of you who knows that smoking sucks and watches it all happening. Today what we want to do is for the whole you to know it sucks and how. Anytime during your day say ‘smoking sucks’ and name the way it sucks for you. 

Try this

  • Before you smoke say “smoking sucks” and name 2 reasons
  • While smoking notice all the things that make smoking suck for you
  • How it burns your throat and lungs
  • How it deposits poisons into your lungs
  • How it makes your body stink
  • How it may someday kill you
  • After smoking say: “I can quit smoking and become a nonsmoker”

WITH PEACE SELF HYPNOSIS

When you have time take a break and go into Peace self hypnosis.

  • Sit or lie down. Say:
  • My shoulders, arms and hands are at peace, or ‘relaxing’, or ‘heavy’
  • My chest and stomach are at peace.
  • My back is at peace. I am at peace.
  • TOOL – Imagine yourself smoking a cigarette
  • See feel the whole process.
  • Come to realize what you are really doing to your body.
  • Realize smoking sucks
  • Wake up to a good day 5.4.3.2.1.

TOBACCO IS MY ENEMY

Is tobacco your friend or your enemy? When I talk to many smokers it sounds like tobacco is a friend. It helps them with stress. Provides pleasure after eating. It tastes good like a cigarette should. It helps you lose weight. What we want today is for you to change your attitude and realize that smoking is your enemy. And that you can be free. It can be over.

Today I want you to look at cigarettes. Hold one in front of you and look at it. See the paper, the filter and break it apart and see the tobacco inside and smell it. See the poisons inside. Every cigarette contains poisons. All contain nicotine. Many contain other poisons like cyanide, formaldehyde, ammonia in very minute quantities. Every time you see a cigarette see the poisons inside. Realize that tobacco is your enemy and that you can be free.

I CAN BE FREE

Yes you can. You can be free of smoking. Within you is a fire of desire to be free. You want to be free. You will be free. A new you is growing within you. A new you that doesn’t smoke and doesn’t want to. See feel this happening.

PART OF MY PAST

Look back upon your life as a smoker. Look at what smoking has done to you and now realize that smoking is becoming part of your past. Something you did in the past.

I DON’T WANT TO SMOKE ANYMORE

Let this feeling inside you grow stronger. I don’t want to smoke anymore. See feel that a new person growing within you. One that doesn’t want to smoke anymore. Let this person grow and then emerge.

Everything in this Workbook are suggestions and you can follow, or modify, change, ignore, or make up your own. What’s important is to have an Action Plan.
