GET MOTIVATED

Motivation is the engine that drives you to reach your goal. When it’s strong you wake up excited about working toward your goal. You do all the practical steps that are needed that day. If any excuses and blocks come up you easily brush them aside. With it you can stay on track to your goal which means you reach your goal fast & easier. You get there as soon as possible. When it’s weak you struggle however you can still reach your goal the hard way. Today we start a series of Chapters on how to get motivated and stay motivated.

Get super motivated. Here we offer Motivation Tools that take seconds to 9 minutes to get you super motivated. You can use them most anytime anywhere. You have them available whenever you need them or want them. Thinking about not going to the gym use a Tool to get motivated and go to the gym. Have a break at work do a visualization and give yourself a PEP talk. Tools are very short so you can use them most anytime.

Some people get inspired and have a burning desire to reach their goal. It keeps them going strong. Many times this is due to some inspired motivation, a birthday, a friends wedding, start of summer, some event. Many people want to prove to people that they can. Sometimes the stress of reaching your goal on a certain time can be too stressful. So have a special time or not. You also can change it at any time.

DEEPER INSPIRATION GARRY’S EXAMPLE FOR WEIGHT LOSS

In my younger days much much younger I was a bodybuilder. Eight years ago I weighted 248. I was still somewhat muscular but had 60 pounds of FAT. My inspired motivations were strong.

  1. I had been fat for about 15 years slowly gaining more and struggled to lose weight. I just wanted it over.
  2. I was getting older and I knew if I didn’t do it now I might never be able to do it.
  3. I wanted to prove to people that my self hypnosis program works. I wanted to make my body an advertisement. I wanted people to notice me and see how this old man at 72 years old was fit. This was my deeper inspiration.

Today is a good day for you to discover your inspirations. First the practical and usual motivations. Write yours down.

Example Weight Loss

More attractive
Look younger
Have more pep
Better health
Better sex life
Impress someone
And more

Next we want to find a deeper motivation that will inspire you. One that is inside your Inner Mind ready to create a fire of desire within you to reach your goal. One that will keep you going during some tough times. My motivations above are good examples of this. Here is a simple exercise that will help you find yours.

MENTAL EXERCISE

We will use Peace Self Hypnosis. Sit or lie down in a quiet place. To start I want you to say the following to yourself and bring your awareness to that area. Feel peace come over this area. We just want you to relax and clear your mind. Do this exercise and/or the one after many times until you find your inspiration.

  • My shoulders, arms and hands are ‘at peace’ or ‘relaxing’ or ‘heavy’
  • My chest and stomach are at peace
  • My back is at peace. I am at peace
  • Ask yourself
  • Why do I want to reach my goal – put in whatever your goal is?
  • Ask the question and then ask it again right away
  • Why do I want to _____?
  • Why do I want to _____?
  • When a reason comes up explore it in your mind
  • Do this 8-10 or more times and rest and wait for insight
  • When done – Say: Wake up to a good day 5.4.3.2.1.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SELF HYPNOSIS 

You can keep your eyes open or closed. Peace is usually closed, strong open, and ‘relax relax’ can be either. First read the self hypnosis script to get an idea of what it is. Then read these lines one by one and follow what is says until you get the script in your head and then let them unfold in your mind. Deep is not needed. 

For Peace or Strong self hypnosis you have more than one choice of words to use i.e. for strong you can use strong or energized either one is good just use the same one thru the whole self hypnosis.

ANOTHER VERSION 

Take a pencil and paper. At the top write your goal. Then write the question “Why do I want to _____”. Keep writing it quickly one after the other just like above. When something comes up reflect on it and write it down. Next start writing the question again. 

Inspiration comes on it’s own schedule. Perhaps now or when you wake up. It also can just dawn on you. You will find yours. The inspiration could be deep in your Inner Mind and take some time to surface so just keep doing the above until you find yours. Within you is a fire of desire to ____. Each day this fire of desire gets stronger and stronger. You can do it

BAD HABITS 

For your question in the above put in ‘Why do I want to stop biting my nails?’ or “What is the worst that can happen if I continue to smoke”, to find inspiration. Who knows what may come up with an inspiring reason.

PEP TALK

Need some motivation? Give yourself a PEP talk and get charged up. A PEP talk is made up of positive suggestions, statements and your goal. It’s good to have 3-5 for each talk and say one or all for your PEP Talk as many times as you want. Make sure they are positive, present tense and personal. Or you can make your own on the spot like a coach would. Repeat them most anytime.

EXAMPLE WEIGHT LOSS

  • I can lose weight
  • I love losing weight
  • By eating less I lose weight faster
  • I weigh 145 pounds

EXAMPLE SCHOOL

  • I study hard and smart
  • My mind absorbs the material
  • On the exam answers flow into my awareness
  • I get an ‘A’ on my Math exam

EXAMPLE GYM WORKOUT 

While walking into gym

  • I feel energy flowing thru my body
  • I am strong
  • I love working out
  • I complete my whole workout
  • Say whatever your goal is.

BAD HABIT – EXAMPLE BITING NAILS

  • I can stop biting my nails 
  • I no longer want to bite my nails
  • I no longer bite my nails
  • Biting my nails is something I did in the past
  • My nails look so good
  • I did it

EXERCISE

Write down a few PEP talks for your goal. Use them anytime anywhere. Takes only a few seconds. You can also make them up on the spot like a coach would. Continue listening to the audio tracks and reading your Goalsheet.

VISUALIZATIONS

You need to tell your Inner Mind what you want to happen. Visualizations do this and keep you motivated. Today we will discuss two types: Vision and Retreat. We say visualizations but we want to use as many senses as possible.

VISION

A Vision is a mental video of what we want to happen in the future, usually a goal. If you are a swimmer it could be winning a gold medal in the Olympics. Or it could be a vision of getting your Math exam back with an ‘A’ on it.

TO CREATE – Start daydreaming about your goal. Now let the colors and shapes get sharper. Perhaps feel the gold medal in your hand or feel the rush as you stand on the podium. Hear the crowd roar. Use as many senses as possible. 

NEXT see a white line from the present time you to the future you achieving this goal. Now see yourself going down this line to get there. You are connected to the future you, reaching your goal. Now add this up and create a mental video of your Vision. It would help to write your vision down. You can use it whenever you want as many times as you want.

TO USE IT

  • Say Peace self hypnosis or just do it without the self hypnosis
  • My shoulders, arms and hands are at peace
  • My chest and stomach are at peace
  • My back is at peace. I am at peace
  • Play your video in your mind

BAD HABITS VIDEO – Biting Nails

Perhaps make a video of your hand going to your mouth and you stop it. Perhaps then see the day you stopped biting your nails or a day when you see your beautiful nails. See yourself going thru the day without doing it. Notice how happy you are. 

RETREAT

This is an escape from daily life for R&R. Perhaps it’s a hike along Mt Tam or sunning on a sandy beach in Maui. First decide on your place. Develop the colors and shapes. Hear the sounds. Touch and feel. Add your activity: skiing, snoozing, sex, snorkeling. Make a mental video. This is great for a break. You can just daydream about it and use peace self hypnosis.

  • Say Peace self hypnosis
  • My shoulders, arms and hands are ‘at peace’ or ‘relaxing’ or ‘heavy’
  • My chest and stomach are at peace
  • My back is at peace. I am at peace
  • Go on your retreat

THE SIGNPOST

For me this one is so powerful. I use this when I need to overcome a temptation to overeat.

See feel yourself going down the path of your life. You come to a signpost. The path to the left is the one for giving up or failing. The path to the right is success. Now look down the path to the left and see your future without reaching your goal. Now look down the path to the right and see your future after reaching your goal. Now choose the right path. 

SIMPLE but it will inspire and motivate you.

Self Hypnosis Version – Weight Loss

  • Close eyes and say Peace self hypnosis
  • My shoulders, arms and hands are at ‘peace’  or ‘relaxing’ or ‘heavy’
  • My chest and stomach are at peace
  • My back is at peace. I am at peace
  • See yourself going down the path of your life
  • See the colors and shapes
  • See a signpost with two paths
  • The path to the left is staying overweight. See feel your future if you stay overweight
  • The path to the right is reaching your goal weight. See feel your future at your goal weight
  • Choose the right path
  • Skip with joy going down the right path

When ready say: Wake up to a good day 5.4.3.2.1.   (optional)

SELF HYPNOSIS INSTRUCTIONS

Use the Signpost often to stay motivated and on track to your goal. It is especially good on excuses, doubts and cravings. Continue to listen to the audio tracks and read your Goalsheet.

BAD HABITS – Biting Nails**

Put in – The path to the left is continuing to bite my nails. The path to the right is to never again bite my nails. Now look down the path to the left and see your future continuing to bite your nails. Now look down the path to the right and see your future never biting my nails again. I choose to stop biting my nails.

BEFORE AN ACTIVITY 

Most people think that hypnosis is about going to a session and letting a hypnotist take you into a deep trance and do his thing to help you quit smoking or whatever. This is only part of it. A big part is you using the Self Hypnosis Tools throughout your day. People say: “Have a good day”. What we are talking about here is actually building a good day. Here we will help you get your mind straight before doing an activity.

Each goal has some activity associated with it. Studying goes with better grades. Making sales calls goes with making more commissions. Eating less for weight loss. First determine your intent for the activity. I read Chapter 3 and then quickly review it. I complete my whole gym workout. This meal completely fills me up and satisfies me.

EARNING MORE COMMISSIONS TOOL

  • Use Strong or Peace self hypnosis
  • My shoulders, arms and hands are ‘strong’ or ‘energized’
  • My chest and stomach are strong
  • My back and legs are strong. I am strong
  • I sell 100 widgets today
  • I sell 100 widget today
  • Now see yourself selling widgets

  • I look at the colors and shapes of the food
  • I look around and connect with my fellow diners
  • This meal satisfies me  

    Start eating 

BAD HABIT – Biting Nails

A bad habits usually is automatic so it may be hard to do this before you bite your nails. Then do it after. Do as often as you can and turn into a good habit.

  • Do it before biting your nails Say: STOP! STOP! and after if you bite nails
  • Think of all the bad stuff that can happen when you bite your nails
  • Think of all the good stuff that will happen when you quit

EXERCISE

Develop a Before Your Activity Tool for your goal. Use it before you start the activity. You can modify or shorten this anyway you want. Continue listening to the audio tracks and reading your Goalsheet
