Weight Loss – Get Motivated

Motivation is the engine that drives you to lose weight. When it’s strong you wake up excited about losing weight that day. You brush aside any temptations to eat. With it you can stay on track to your goal weight which means you lose weight fast & easier.  You get there as soon as possible. When it’s weak you struggle. Today we start a series of Posts on how to get motivated and stay motivated.

Some people get inspired and have a burning desire to lose weight. It keeps them going strong. Many times this is due to some inspired motivation. A birthday, a friends wedding, start of summer, some event or they may just be tired of being fat. Many people want to prove to people that they can. They want to show off their new body at the beach this summer. You want to find yours.

In my younger days I was a competitive bodybuilder. Three years ago at age 67 I weighted 248. I was still muscular but had 60 pounds of FAT. My motivations were strong.

  1. I wanted to prove to people that my self hypnosis program works. I made my body an advertisement. I wanted people to notice me and see how this old man at 70 years old was muscular, fit and walked with a swagger. People do notice.
  2. I had been fat for about 15 years slowly gaining more. I just wanted it over.
  3. I was getting older. I knew if I didn’t do it now I might never to be able to do it

Today is a good day for you to discover your inspirations. First the practical and usual motivations. Write yours down.

  • More attractive
  • Look younger
  • Have more pep
  • Better health
  • Better sex life
  • Impress someone
  • And more

Next we want to find a deeper motivation that will inspire you. One that is inside your Inner Mind (subconscious) ready to create a fire of desire within you to lose weight. One that will keep you going during some tough times. My motivations above are good examples of this. Here is a simple exercise that will help you find yours.

EXERCISE

We will use Peace Self Hypnosis which we will talk about in an upcoming post. Sit or lie down in a quiet place. To start I want you to say the following to yourself and bring your awareness to that area. Feel peace come over this area. We just want you to relax and clear your mind. In later post we will go deeper into this.

  • My shoulders, arms and hands are at peace
  • My chest and stomach are at peace
  • My back is at peace. I am at peace
  • Ask yourself
  • Why do I want to lose weight?
  • Why do I want to lose weight?
  • Ask the question and then ask it again right away
  • When a new reason comes up explore it in your mind.
  • Do this 8-10 times

Keep doing this exercise. You may get one or more great reasons to lose weight. Here is another version. Take a pencil and paper. At the top write your goal. Then write the question “Why do I want to lose weight”. Keep writing it quickly one after the other just like above. When something comes up write it down and start writing the question again.

Inspiration comes on it’s own schedule. Perhaps now or when you wake up. It also can just dawn on you. You will find yours. The inspiration could be deep in your Inner Mind and take some time to surface. Within you is a fire of desire to lose weight. Each day this fire of desire gets stronger and stronger. You can lose weight. You will lose weight.
