Starting a new project can raise so many doubts. If you want to lose 50 pounds it could take 6 months to a year. That’s a long time. How can I last that long? Most smokers have tried to quit many times and didn’t make it. How can I quit this time? Trying to get an ‘A’ on your next Math exam can seem hopeless. So what can we do? We can go from ‘doubts’ to ‘I believe’ with Active Self Hypnosis. I hope this post will help you. It includes an audio track.
They are my favorite way to use self hypnosis. You listen and they motivate you, help remove temptations & doubts, and gain insight. I have 2 types: ‘relax’ and ‘outloud’. The outloud keeps you in normal consciousness and can be listened to while driving, cooking, cleaning, walking, anytime anywhere. The relax track takes you deeper. You need to sit or lie down in a quiet area or use headphones. They are short so they will give you a quick burst of motivation.
The relax “I Believe” track is a good example. It is for removing doubts. It lasts 8:25 minutes. Listen to it. It follows the outline below.
I think pro basketball is one of the best examples of this. Everything happens so fast. Everybody moves so fast in so many directions. Dribble, takes shots, block, rebound. The conscious mind thinks very slow. A basketball player can not think fast enough to make all those moves. They train and train starting when they were young. They train there Inner Mind (subconscious) to do all of this. Then when the game starts they let their Inner Mind take over. The conscious mind provides direction. Basketball players use self hypnosis in action. But they don’t call it that.
Hypnosis brings your Inner Mind into your awareness so you can take charge and use more of your mind. To get motivated, to overcome obstacles, to get insight, to stop cravings and to enhance positive emotions. Using a Hypnotist takes you deeper and you have a professional to guide you. In self hypnosis you take charge. You can use it anytime anywhere. I teach 4 kinds of self hypnosis: ‘relax’, strong, peace and audio tracks.
What’s important is that the conscious mind and Inner Mind can both exist in your awareness. It can be 80% conscious – 20% Inner Mind in self hypnosis. Or it can be 10% conscious – 90% Inner Mind with a Hypnotist. This also happens in real life when you are driving and you hear a song that bring back warm fuzzy feelings. The Inner Mind brings this memory into your awareness. Or your Inner Mind can send you a burst of anger. Your awareness can be any mixture. With self hypnosis you can influence the mixture. For self hypnosis you don’t need to go deep. You can’t use it while you are driving but you can listen to an audio track that will keep you in normal consciousness and provides beneficial suggestions to motive you. The ‘outloud’ audio tracks are great for this. You can use light self hypnosis for a few seconds when a craving to eat sweets comes up or use a ‘relax’ audio track to go deeper.
Picture a tool box with tools inside. When a worker need to pound in a nail he grabs a hammer. He has tools for all situations. This is the approach I take. This is what we will work on in hypnosis during your first session. This will help you get started and get going on reaching your goal. Use the words ‘I can’ often. I can lose weight. I can eat less. I can exercise. I can get an ‘A’ on my Math exam. I had to lose 68 pounds. I knew it was possible. But I thought the odds were very slim. Doubts were popping up like popcorn. I just didn’t have the strength and willpower. I was too old. I get stressed out. Sometimes I get anxious or angry. It would probably take a year. Could I last that long? 18 months later I have lost 57 pounds with just a little more to lose. I know I can make it.
The words ‘I can’ are easier to accept than ‘I will’. If you have doubts start using the word ‘I can’ right away until you start believing you can. I can lose weight. I can exercise. I can get an ‘A’ on my Math exam. I can study and learn the material.
EXERCISE – Start telling yourself ‘I can’ for your goal or change. Out loud or to yourself. Do this during a work break, while walking from your car, before studying, anytime anywhere. **When I ask you to say ‘I can reach my goal’ put in your own goal. For example: I can lose weight or I can get an ‘A’ whatever your goal is.
Just daydream about losing weight. Feel the weight coming off. See the scale coming up with lower numbers. See feel the benefits. Whatever you want daydream about it anytime anywhere.
Do this as often as you can. It takes only a few seconds. Do this while taking a work break, waiting in line, walking into the gym, anytime anywhere. Your Inner Mind (subconscious) needs to be told what you want. The conscious mind is the driver in a car with the Inner Mind the car. You need to steer, to step on the gas pedal and step on the brakes when needed. You can reach your goals.
If you are having doubts floating thru your mind they could be from past failures. You may have tried to lose weight many times or tried to quit smoking. Each time you failed you felt crushed and hopeless. Or you may have lost the weight but gained it back.
Look at your history regarding this goal and other areas of your life. Bring up your past attempts. Ask and reflect on these two questions. What was going on? What did I learn? You can also use peace self hypnosis. Self hypnosis takes some time to learn but you don’t have to go deep. Just say the words and go with them.
While your failures can be discouraging, your successes can be super motivating. Look over your life for your accomplishments. Bring into your mind a success that you had. Look at the difficulties you had to overcome. See feel yourself having these feelings of success. You can also use strong self hypnosis.
Within in you a new person is emerging. One that loses weight, quits smoking or gets an ‘A’. See feel this new person emerging. Visualize it growing inside your chest and emerging from it perhaps like a butterfly emerging from a cocoon. You can modify this image if you want. Do this visualization often during your day.
People say we only use a small portion of our mind. As a young boy I wondered why. I wondered what parts weren’t we using. What could we use them for. This started me on a lifelong journey to find out.
In 1981 I went to a therapist for 5 therapy sessions to learn how to deal with stress. She hypnotized me and I liked it. I saw the possibilities for change. I experienced the power of my mind. At this time I was still smoking. I went to a hypnotist to quit smoking. I laid down on a couch. He hypnotized me. I said to myself ‘ok’ but I didn’t think it did much. I walked out and I had no desire to smoke. I had quit. This astounded me. How could this happen. I had almost no withdrawals.
I became a Hypnotist in 1983. I studied at Hypnosis Clearing House with teachers Frieda Morris and Ormond McGill. Afterwards I kept working at my regular job and did hypnosis on a limited basis. I started working on how the mind works, what parts are what, how do you make changes. Ormond McGill had past along the Fundamental Principle of the Inner Mind to me. This was the starting point. My first ‘manual’ came out in 1984. It was 2 pages long. I continued to work on it. My blog describes my work so far.
